The Natuurmonumenten (Dutch Society for Nature Conservation) visitor’s centre is located in Sint Jansklooster. This is the starting point for various sailing, cycling and hiking excursions through Weerribben-Wieden National Park. Stroll through the unique landscape and be surprised. There is a rich variety of clubs and organisations with high attendance, thanks to the close-knit community. The annual highlights are the Klooster market and the Bloemencorso (a flower parade)!

The story of the water

The water tower rises high above the landscape and forms virtually the only landmark for sailors on the lakes. It marks the past as an important centre for water extraction and distribution. Apart from the water tower, there is another monument that towers over the undulating landscape: the Monks’ Mill. Of course, the name can be traced back to the time when the monks of Sint Jans Kamp were in charge of the village economy. The restored stretch of abbey wall reminds us of the period of the settlement that gave Sint Jansklooster its name. There is a rich variety of clubs and organisations with high attendance, thanks to the close-knit, pious community. The annual highlights are the Klooster market and the Bloemencorso (a flower parade).
