Thousand years ago Vollenhove was the place where the exploitation of the region began from the courtyard of the ruler, Bishop of Utrecht. The city raised around the castle from 1165 and it became the administrative center for the whole northern and eastern region of The Netherlands until 1581. The nobility continued to live on the estate. This museum brings this history alive with models, objects and on screens. The city map of Vollenhove from the year 1649 is more than life-size and can be seen in 3D. During the French era, most nobility disappeared and the fishery flourished. There is much to be seen, read and also to hear. A tour guide walks you through the route of this city, tells and explains the history of this beautiful city of Vollenhove and you are sure to admire the most beautiful places of this city.
