Welcome to Giethoorn! Of course, we want your visit to our lovely town to be as safe as possible. Therefore, we have a set of rules. We have provided an overview below.

Corona rules: walking, cycling and boating in Giethoorn

WALKING (applies on busy days between 11:00am - 5:00pm)

  • There is one-way traffic on the Binnenpad (between the Vermaningspad and the Willem Visscherpad). If it is crowded and these rules apply, you will be informed.
  • There is a maximum number of visitors on the Binnenpad (between the Vermaningspad and ‘t Vonder). Residents have free access. If it is crowded and these rules apply, you will be informed.

CYCLING (applies every day between 11:00am - 5:00pm)

  • Cycling is prohibited on the Binnenpad, Zuiderpad and Langesteeg (this does not apply to delivery traffic). You may walk while holding your bicycle there.

BOATING (applies on weekends and during school holidays from 11:00am - 5:00pm)

  • Boating is prohibited in the Dorpsgracht between Pole 5 and Pole 1 (residents, professional boating and hired boats may go through).

  • STAY 1,5 METRES APART
  • TRY NOT TO STOP ON THE BRIDGES
  • IF THE PATH IS WIDE ENOUGH, KEEP RIGHT
  • GO ELSEWHERE TO FIND A QUIETER SPOT
  • IF IT GETS TOO CROWDED
  • FOLLOW LOCAL INSTRUCTIONS
